Farmers Union Camp
Each summer NDFU provides camp opportunities to Farmers Union members. There are 15 junior camps (for completed grades 3-6). and 7 senior camps (for completed grades 7-12). More than 1,500 youth participate in these cooperative-focused, leadership-building camps.
Youth organize and operate a camp candy store in a cooperative business structure. They are educated on “real life” issues ranging from community development, farm safety, world concerns and the legislative process, to mock trials through hands-on learning. Swimming, theme nights, singing basketball, dances, volleyball, miniature golf and fun cooperative games complete the camp experience and leave campers with lasting memories and many new friends.
Junior camps are held at six sites throughout North Dakota: Heart Butte Farmers Union Camp near Elgin; Mouse River Farmers Union Camp near Velva; Wesley Acres Bible Camp near Dazey; Grand Rapids Memorial Park near LaMoure; Park River Bible Camp near Park River; and Upper Missouri Ministeries Bible Camp, near Epping. The seven senior camps are all held at the Heart Butte Campsite.
