North Dakota Farmers Union believes family farms are the backbone of our state’s economy. NDFU serves its individual members and affiliated cooperatives in many ways.
Farmers Union activities and opportunities are open to all family members. As the largest general farm organization in North Dakota, Farmers Union carries a clear voice when meeting with policymakers in Bismarck or Washington.
Our proud heritage spans more than 80 years. Our earliest areas of focus — education, cooperation and legislation — are just as significant today.
In fact, Farmers Union grew hand-in-hand with the locally-owned Farmers Union cooperatives that evolved into tap roots for Cenex Harvest States. Cooperatives allow member-customers to profit from owning and controlling their own company.
Farmers Union will continue to keep our members informed on rural issues and paves the way for them to voice their opinions. Farmers Union "fly-ins" to Washington, DC, are an important tool we use to keep lawmakers up to date on the nation’s heartland. Members are encouraged to attend their local, county or state Farmers Union meetings to offer their comments — and leadership — as we work together to improve our quality of life.
Educational opportunities will always be a hallmark of Farmers Union. From camping programs for third graders to marketing sessions for young producers, we offer a wide-ranging slate of special events across the state throughout the year. Our summer camps attract more than 1,500 youth every year, making it one of the most popular summer events anywhere in North Dakota. We design these camps to encourage our youth to emerge as a new generation of leaders.
